What Are These Push Notifications?

How are companies able to push notifications to my computer?

The service that allows us to send notifications to you is called Push Notifications.  Push notifications are a feature built into mobile devices, web browsers, and operating systems. They are an easy way for developers and marketers to send short, real-time messages to those who have allowed the service.  When you install the Push Notification plug-in to your website, visitors get prompted to join your notification set.  When allowed, this enables the owner of the website to push messages directly to you via the cookies that were enabled on your web browser. You will see our Push Notification at the bottom left of our website.

This is a relatively modern technology that more and more advertisers are using to try and reach out with direct messaging.   Some advertisers say that with this easy form of direct marketing, they are really strong CTR (click through rates).

We personally use a service called One Signal; it allows us to see how many people have accepted our push service, but no personal information like names or locations.  With One Signal we are allowed to send brief headlines that pop-up on your computer with the hopes we may be able to send relevant information to people.

You can disable these notifications by clearing out the cookies on your browser or by  going into your browser settings and disabling the notifications one by one.
