Office 365 has a host of solutions that ALL need to be individually backed up – just because you back up your mailbox, doesn’t mean that Teams data, SharePoint sites, or OneDrive data is backed up.
You may also think that Microsoft is backing up your Office 365 data but only provides mailbox restoration for 30 days and individual email retrieval for 14 days.
If you use SharePoint or Teams, then in the event of a ransomware attack, for instance, you can reach out to Microsoft and they can restore your data for up to 90 days, however, this will be a full restore, so everything else will be overwritten. This form of basic backup will not help you if you need to restore a single file or folder nor will the recovery time be quick or efficient.
Microsoft does have some backup procedures in place for emergencies but it is not a true backup solution.
