Does your HP Laserjet, Canon, Epson or Ricoh Printer run out of ink way too fast?
A lot of times the print quality is what chews up so much ink. DPI (Dots per inch) is the setting related to print quality, the higher the DPI the more ink the page will use.
To try and lower the ink, lower the DPI. To lower the DPI for your printer go to Settings, Printers and Scanners and then select your Printer and choose MANAGE or Printer Properties
Printer properties – Preferences – Paper\Quality – Lower the DPI to 600 (you can raise or lower it if you want to test different settings)
Also keep in mind that many programs have their own “printer”; for example, Adobe will have a printer listed in your printer’s list called ADOBE PDF. You will need to edit the quality settings in each printer or software driver as well.
So go through all your printers (or at least those that you may use), and adjust the print quality settings for all of them. You can always go back later and up the DPI settings if the quality is lacking
So, to fix when your printer is using to much ink, go into the Print Quality menu of your printers and lower all the settings, turn on any economodes, and lower DPI and that should improve the ink usage problem
